SERVICE PROJECTS

​Christ Child Society of Phoenix offers five service Projects in which you can be involved. These projects represent our members' dedication to the at-risk children we serve in our community. We “see” the Christ Child in each child we help.

LAYETTE
Over 800 layettes are provided annually to six Phoenix metropolitan agencies and hospitals. Each layette contains ten handmade items for newborns. Our Chapter members knit, crochet, cut, sew, or assemble various items for infants including hooded towels, onesies, receiving blankets, burp cloths, afghans, newborn hand mitts, and more. Each Layette is packed in a diaper bag provided by donations from local Knights of Columbus Councils.

BEDTIME BAGS
Over 750 bags are provided annually to six Phoenix metropolitan agencies for children in crisis. Members assemble bags which contain a t-shirt, wash cloth, personal hygiene items, and a hand made Teddy Bear.

LITERACY ENRICHMENT - BOOK CLUB BUDDIES
The 4th and 5th grade students at St. Matthew Catholic School are the beneficiaries of the work of this group of ladies. The members meet once a month and discuss a book that was distributed the previous month. Each month the students enjoy creating a craft project associated with the theme of the book they just finished.

LITERACY ENRICHMENT - STORY BOOK FRIENDS AT ST. AGNES
Each month during the school year, members read to 1st graders to instill the love of reading, word recognition, and basic reading skills.

COMFORT QUILTS
Members sew over 500 quilts each year and distribute them to children at six area hospitals and agencies. These are given in hopes of providing comfort during the challenging time the children face in their young lives.

PEN PALS
Members exchange letters with students at St. Agnes Catholic School once a year as they prepare for receiving their First Holy Communion.
